Cruiser News

SEPTEMBER 2006

Well, we're winding down our Car Show season. I'd like to say "Thank You" to all our members for doing a great job of hosting our shows this year. I feel like we've put on the best shows around this summer. Doug has done a great job of keeping the music alive. His music is great and everyone is having a lot of fun. Everyone has helped out a lot this year. Thanks for stepping up to the plate.

We would like to welcome our new members to the club: Bobby Miller & Cynthia Simmons, Robert Miller, Andrew Campbell, Joe Taylor, Felipe Mendez, Joe Taylor, Dan Blake, Troy "Reb" Stimson, Ernest Mitchell, Billy Thrasher, Phillip Key and Mr. Trevino.

We were asked by Albertsons in Benbrook to have a show at their store. Richard Gordon, the Store Director, wanted to have a show to raise money for a local charity, We had discussed earlier in the year about making a contribution to "Cowtown Cruisin For A Cure" With Albertsons Help we had a very successful show. We had 49 cars register and raised another $100.00 from the 50/50 pot. Doug was given $200.00 for playing at the show and he wanted to give the money back to Cruisin For A Cure. My Daughters and I were lucky enough to win the 50/50 pot and we gave it to them as well. In all we'll be donating $700.00 to them for prostrate cancer treatment and research. Way to go to everyone we did a great job. The money will be presented to them during their show downtown on September 16th. We would like all members to come out for the presentation.

Since the Cowtown Cruisin For A Cure show is so big they asked us to help out as parking captains. So far we have 10 members helping out, if anyone else can help out I'm sure they would appreciate it. The members going to the show to help out are meeting at "The Ol South Pancake House" at 1507 South University Drive (about a block south of I-30) at 6:00 AM and leave as a group from there around 6:15. Everyone helping out is to be downtown at 5th St. Entrance at 6:30. Also by doing this we can park together. The show will open at 10:00 A.M. and go till 4:00 P.M. If you have not pre-registered you can still register at the show ($25.00) This show is a lot of fun and a great cause so come out and show your support.

We will be having our last show of the season at Texas Grill on Camp Bowie West on Saturday September the 23rd starting at 6:00 P.M. and going till 9:00 P.M. We will start setting up around 4:30. We are looking for a great turnout.

We have scheduled a cruise going to Granbury on October 14th. Meeting at the Texas Grill in Benbrook then driving there for burgers then going to the Brazos Drive In. We did this a few years back and had a blast. Looking forward to good time at the old Drive In.

We're also planning a night at the drags in Kennedale in the near future.

Thanks again for all the hard work,

                                                                 Harley.
